FOOTBALL PLAYER’S PRAYER

Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven.

Dear Lord, be with me in this game tonight. I pray for courage to face and conquer my own fears, and for your protection from injuries. Lord, I ask for strength to play to the best of my ability, and for strength of spirit to be a leader to others. May I be strong and triumphant over those who try to stand in my way.

O Lord, please give me wisdom and knowledge in things I don’t understand. Help me to be kind and gentle when I can, and may I never make a judgment in a rash or callous way.

Help me to be patient and content and to remember it is just a game.

Help me to praise You and be graceful and humble in victories, and if it is your will that we go down in defeat, then help me to praise and glorify your name even in defeat.

Lord, guide our coaches in making wise choices and help them be the kind of leaders you would have them be. God give the Refs vision to see and wisdom and good judgment to make the right calls. 

I praise and thank You for using the game of football to draw me closer to You. I want to play this game so it is not about me, but all about You.
